    Unique Breast Cancer Services

Through a partnership with Baton Rouge Radiology Group, the Pennington Cancer Center is home to one of the best diagnostic mammography programs in the area. Our dedicated radiologists are highly experienced and are specifically trained and certified in breast imaging.

For women with a family history of breast cancer, Pennington Cancer Center offers Genetic Counseling and Screening. Through a close examination of your personal and family history, along with a specialized blood test, our Geneticist will investigate your risk of developing cancer and work with you to make decisions about preventative and pretreatment methods if needed.

Pennington Cancer Center is the only center in the region using the Rubicor Phantom, a new FDA-approved breast lumpectomy device that gives patients a minimally invasive alternative to traditional lumpectomies. Using an advanced radio frequency-powered loop and ultrasound technology, physicians are able to perform lumpectomies faster, with greater precision, and better cosmetic outcomes for patients.

MammoSite is a 5-day targeted radiation therapy system that works from the inside out, helping to decrease the chance of recurrence in early stage breast cancer patients.

To help breast cancer patients cope with the common disorder of Lymphedema, Pennington Cancer Center hosts the area's only certified Lymphedema Support Group. Facilitated by highly trained clinicians, this free program is open to any breast cancer patient seeking information and support.

Fitness is a vital part of recovering from breast cancer and now there's a fun, new way to stay active. Pennington is home to South Louisiana's only Lebed Program where certified therapists lead a unique 6-week program that focuses on physical and mental healing through movement and dance. Designed primarily for women who have undergone breast surgery, node dissection, radiation, or chemotherapy, Lebed helps patients regain strength, endurance, range of motion and mobility.
